It’s similar to an hmo, but payment is received as it care is provided rather than in advance. It’s usually in the form of a scheduled fee. A ppo dental plan may also offer more flexibility by allowing for visits to out-of-network professionals sometimes at a greater expense to the policyholder.
A ppo dental plan is also a network of physicians and hospitals that have agreed, by contract, to discount their rates to their members. The networks are typically very large, and the members are free to seek care from any physician or provider within the network, including specialists without a referral.
